It
was decided to rest our overworked souls by a quiet afternoon’s caving in Littondale. A slight shortage of petrol
en-route resulted in a change of timetable. So light was fading as we set off to find the hole We intended to examine Boreham Cave but the one we red did not resemble the description offered by Pennine Underground. Although not a long cave it was very interesting. Such features as waterfalls to climb, a flat out crawl in
water and a right angle bend in a narrow passage made life more interesting.
The end of the cave is amply bestowed with curtains and flowstone barring further progress.
A draught can be felt and another waterfall heard in the distance. There appeared to be lichens growing on parts of the wall which caused some puzzlement to us. We emerged
into the still, clear evening air after a pleasant three
hour trip. Copper showed his appreciation of the
expedition by throwing off
his wet suit and running up and down the road in a state of total undress.
