Boxing Day Walk
The
rain was falling when we all arrived at Elterwater car park but that had not
deterred 15 escapees + 2 dogs from the Christmas excesses for the Boxing Day
Walk. As we climbed Loughrigg the rain cleared and we had great views towards
Dunmail and Fairfield with snow on the summits. We walked along the bumpy ridge
and decided on a grassy knoll with good
views for lunch. After a quick lunch we
descended to the bridleway and on to Loughrigg Tarn and a short road
walk led us to Low Wood arboretum to encircle a Sequoia Redwood - it took eight
of us.
It
was then back up to the road and a descent to the cars. We later joined the Macdonald family in the pub at
Foxfield and all enjoyed a fabulous meal helped down by just a little beer.
Thanks to Linda and Stuart for looking after us and all who came to our
traditional festive walk. Happy New Year.
