The
event on July 12th. was a photo-opportunity for YDNP and brought together
representatives from YDNP, B4RN Ltd. Melling, B4RN for Casterton , the Red Rose
Cave and Pothole Club and South Lakeland District Council to celebrate the
completion of the final Casterton Fell spur of the local fibre network and
particularly to acknowledge the financial assistance given by YDNP from their
Sustainable Development Fund. YDNP chairman Carl Lis came along, together with
Sustainable Development Officer Andrea Burden, Social Media Officer Andy Kay
(who acted as their official photographer) and apprentice Hannah Kingsbury
(from Barbon). Chris Conder and Dave
Ryall were there from B4RN Melling; Ray Duffy (President), Andy Hall and Sandra
and Mel Wilkinson from the caving club; Councillor Nick Cotton from SLDC; and
some of the usual suspects from the local Project Team! The main focus of the
event was to present two promotional cheques. B4RN Melling had received a loan
of £9,950 earmarked for local project, and
the Red Rose Caving Club had been given a grant of £8,000 which they had
matched from other sources to fund the reconfiguration of part of the club
premises including new tackle store, grey water system and their new library
and resource centre.
