where our Hut Engineer got his nickname?
Lurking in the depths of the Red
Rose library, there are two very old, books of press cuttings, originally
collected by our first President Jim Eyre.
Recently in an attempt to stop
the weight of the library crashing down into our bedroom, we decided to
look through this collection and put it into some sort of order.
Hence this cutting came to light,
along with numerous others which may or may not at some time cause
embarrassment to other members, … with their fifteen minutes of fame!
Yes you’ve guessed it. This is
the rescue of Alan (Starkers) Martin from Marble Steps Pot way back in
February 1973 when he was stripped of his clothing to facilitate his safe
removal from the pot.
And the rest as they say is
history ….
